Summary
Taipei Parents’ Association for the Visually Impaired has been offering rehabilitation and health care services to the visually and mentally impaired since 1996. At a fundraiser, I was challenged with designing a Braille* calendar that is functional for users with different levels of vision.
*Braille is a system of raised dots read through touch.
Main Goal
A specialized calendar that bridges the gap between the sighted and the visually impaired.
The Problem
From past fundraisers, we know most of the donors are sighted, however, an inclusive parallel experience for all users is preferred. Braille is commonly used as a ‘supporting language’ in public spaces, but we want to rebrand it as fun and uniquely playful.
The Solution
The Concept
Visuals that incorporate Braille dots seamlessly, creating a parallel experience for different users. Braille is no longer a ‘dotted code’, but a part of our everyday objects.
